Visually impaired scholarship winner plans to help others

June 27, 2014

The Millsboro Lions Club recently donated $500 in scholarship funds to a very deserving student, Jazmine Castaneda, a graduate of the class of 2014 of Sussex Central High School. Castaneda, who is visually impaired, plans to serve others in the future in her chosen field of psychology.  She will attend Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington in the fall. The A.E. Moore Scholarship that Castaneda received was created in honor of the club's longest-tenured charter member, Alton E. Moore.

The Millsboro Lions Club also sponsored Castaneda as a middle school student in 2010 to attend the National Federation for the Blind Leadership and Advocacy in Washington, D.C. Program. At the presentation are (l-r) King Lion Sandy Wilson, Castaneda and her mother, Grisel Espinosa.
