Briggs King sets record straight on trial

June 20, 2014

In an article that appeared in a statewide news publication titled “Deadlocked jury leads to mistrial,” it was incorrectly reported that I was among those in attendance at the time the jury announced that it could not reach a unanimous verdict in the criminal trial of Eric Bodenweiser.

Please allow me to be very clear.  I have not attended any of these court proceedings for Mr. Bodenwesier.  In fact, I believe observing the trial at any level would have been inappropriate given my role as a state legislator representing a separate branch of government.  All along I have wanted to allow the judicial process to fully take its course in the most fair and impartial manner.

I apologize for any confusion or concern that this incorrect reporting may have caused readers and I have been promised by the news publication that a retraction will be printed promptly.

Ruth Briggs King
State Representative
