Richard H. Steele, owned carpentry business

Richard H. Steele, 68 of Laurel, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 17, 2014.

Richard was a 1964 graduate of Georgetown High School and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army National Guard in January of 1971. After his military duty, Richard spent his life working as a carpenter in Sussex County as Richard Steele Builders. In his last years, he worked in the maintenance dept. at Walmart in Salisbury, Md. and was loved by all who knew him there.

Richard is survived by his wife of 31 years, Donna Steele; children Shawn Steele of Millsboro and Lindsay Steele of Laurel; two grandsons Parker and Landon Steele; and two sisters, Carole Coccia of Georgetown and Sandy Lamplugh of Millsboro.

Richard always had a smile, a wonderful sense of humor and a positive attitude throughout his life. He always said, “There’s nothing better than a good cup of coffee under the shade tree” and he loved spending time with family and friends. He adored his children and grandchildren. He will be forever missed by his loving wife and all of his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, June 21, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Georgetown.
