Annual garden tour honored among state's top one-day events

Originally named the Zwaanendael Heritage Garden Tour, the annual Lewes Garden Tour was conceived by the late Mary Vessels, her brother Jack and sister-in-law Mickey. They wanted the public to see some of the hidden treasures in the backyards of Lewes. That was back in 1990; fast forward to 2002 and the tour was honored with the Governor's Tourism Award for an outstanding one-day event.
