K of C Councils honor veterans with event

July 6, 2014

I would like to thank the Knights of Columbus members and their wives who held the first-ever dinner dance to honor area wounded combat veterans from World War II to Afghanistan June 21.

The honorees included Wounded Warriors from Iraq and Afghanistan to members of the Millsboro Military Order of the Purple Heart. Honorees at the St. Jude Apostle Church dinner dance ranged from John Sauer, a WWII D Day vet to veterans from all the wars that followed.

The efforts of the Knights and their wives were deeply appreciated by the honorees, especially since a number of the men serving the dinner are 4th Degree Knights, combat veterans from WWII to Afghanistan.
