Compassionate Friends to discuss vacations and coping July 10
Vacation. It’s what you take when you’re tired of taking what you’ve been taking. This is true for families whose child (or grandchild) has died but sometimes vacations bring back sad memories of the “times when.” The Lighthouse Chapter of The Compassionate Friends will meet Thursday, July 10, in the Branford Lounge at Epworth United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. The topic of the support group meeting will be dealing with the memories of past happy vacation times and to discuss what bereaved parents may or may not do during summer vacation when thoughts may be far from relaxing in the sun or at a favorite memorable spot away from home.
The TCF Lighthouse Chapter Memory Table will be set up and participants are asked to bring a photo of their child for discussion.
Epworth Church is on Holland Glade Road about a quarter mile from its intersection with Route One. Going south on Route One make a U-turn at Shuttle Road (CVS) and go north for a quarter mile. Turn right onto Glade Road just before the Oceanside Outlets. The church is on the right. The Compassionate Friends was founded more than 40 years ago when a chaplain at a hospital in England met with a pair of grieving parents and realized that the support they gave each other was better than anything he, as a chaplain, could ever say or provide.
