Coastal Sussex Chapter 1690 of NARFE donates $7,547 to Alzheimer's research

July 11, 2014

Officials of Coastal Sussex Chapter 1690 of National Active and Retired Federal Employees presented a check for Alzheimer’s research in the amount of $7,547 to Jamie Magee, Sussex County coordinator of the Alzheimer’s Association.

The money was raised by the NARFE chapter this spring, primarily through its annual golf tournament, and a charity luncheon and auction held May 16 at the Cottage Cafe in Bethany Beach.

Magee said, “This local NARFE chapter has been very diligent and successful in raising funds for Alzheimer’s research in recent years. We appreciate their members’ support for this important cause and are deeply grateful for this latest generous donation.”

Making the check presentation for the NARFE chapter were chapter officials including President Larry Trombello, Alzheimer’s Committee Chair Dick Oliver, and charity golf tournament Chair Ron Weber. Trombello said, “We appreciate the strong support we have received every year from individuals and local businesses in the Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island and vicinity areas for our Alzheimer’s fundraising efforts. This is an important cause that our chapter is dedicated to supporting, and we are grateful to have strong community backing for these efforts.”
