Thomas E. Hanson Jr. receives DuPont MCN Torchbearer Award

July 13, 2014

The DuPont Minority Counsel Network awarded Morris James partner Thomas E. Hanson Jr. the 2014 Hinton J. Lucas Jr. Torchbearer Award at its annual conference held in Atlanta, Ga., June 25-27. The award is named for DuPont’s retired vice president and assistant general counsel Hinton J. Lucas Jr., who is known for his many years of dedicated community service and leadership in the advancement of diversity in the legal profession. This prestigious award recognizes an attorney who exhibits unparalleled efforts to support and promote initiatives that create opportunities for diverse attorneys.

The Torchbearer Award, which is one of only two awards presented by the Minority Counsel Network annually, is the culmination of many years of hard work and dedication to community service Hanson has displayed, including chairing two committees of the Minority Counsel Network and serving on its Executive Leadership Board.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be recognized by an organization that I admire for its dedication to diversity and inclusion,” said Hanson. “I will continue to do all I can to work to expand opportunities for diverse professionals.”

Hanson is a partner at Morris James in Wilmington and a member of its corporate and fiduciary litigation group. He has over 15 years of experience representing large and medium-size companies in a wide range of business law disputes. Some of Hanson’s other awards include the Wilmington Award for Community Service (2009) and the Leadership Award of the Multicultural Judges & Lawyers Section of the Delaware State Bar Association (2011).
