RSCT offers merry-go-round of plays; 'Peter Pan' next up July 13

"Aladdin" July 15, "Little Goldy and the Three Riding Bears" July 16
July 11, 2014

Little Red Riding Hood is sick, so her sister, Little Goldy, must take the goody basket to Granny’s. Before she leaves she feeds the Three Little Pigs, who are plotting to escape their sty. On the way to Granny’s, Little Red meets the Three Bears, who have left their porridge unfinished and are on their way to perform their stunt tricycle act in the circus.

Put that all together, add one very confused wolf, and you have the Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre’s rollicking musical production "Little Goldy and the Three Riding Bears." With song and dance, the play combines "The Three Little Pigs," "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" and "Little Red Riding Hood" into one hilarious show. Composer James Scully provides the lively score. Elise Seyfried’s witty lyrics add to the fun. Steve Seyfried’s script keeps the action and the laughs rolling.

Musical numbers include "Packing the Goody Basket," "Building Our Houses," "Circus Joys"  and "Misunderstood," the sad song of a lonely wolf.

A cast of three talented performers brings the 10 characters of the play to life. With split-second costume changes, the stage becomes a whirlwind of activity with dancing pigs, harmonizing bears and a tricycle-riding granny. Rachel Hendrickson, Josh Keiter and Steve Seyfried throw all their energy and skill into this spirited play. The next performance is 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, at Epworth United Methodist Church off Route 1 near the Seaside Outlets.

"Little Goldy and the Three Riding Bears" rotates through the summer with three other fun-filled shows: "Peter Pan," "Alice in Wonderland" and "Aladdin."

The performances of RSCT take place in two locations. Audiences in downtown Rehoboth can enjoy Sunday evening shows at the Clear Space Theatre on Baltimore Avenue. On Tuesday evenings, and Wednesday and Thursday mornings plays are performed at Epworth UMC.
