Wibergart features new painting for July 12 Art Walk

July 10, 2014

The Delaware River and Bay have been major resources for commercial carriers to move merchandise into the mid-Atlantic region of the American continent from the arrival of the earliest settlers to the present. Until the end of the 19th century, the primary carriers of immigrants and merchandise were majestic sailing vessels. Jack Wiberg’s most recent painting, "Farewell Moon," depicts one of these great ships leaving Delaware Bay.

The painting, in oil on canvas, is 24-by-36-inches. It shows the ship at night with a full moon lighting the ship and the sea. It is currently being featured in the Wibergart Gallery in the Galleries at 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Visit the galleries for the Mosaic Art Walk, 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, July 12.
