Shakespeare group to hold auditions for ‘Twelfth Night’ July 14, 15

Possum Point Players' New Faces of Shakespeare has scheduled auditions for “Twelfth Night, or What You Will” for 7 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, July 14 and 15, at Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Road, Georgetown. Michael J. Murnin is director, and production dates are Oct. 17, 18 and 19. Those unable to attend either night of auditions may make an appointment with the director by emailing mjmurnin@aol.com.

Those auditioning should come prepared with a two- to five-minute memorized speech or cutting from any Shakespeare play. All are required to submit a resume and picture (snapshot or selfie is fine). Callbacks will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, in Possum Hall. Actors will also be asked to read from “Twelfth Night.” A read-through will be held in August at a date to be announced. Evening rehearsals will start Tuesday, Sept. 2, and the rehearsal schedule will be determined by the schedules of the cast members.

Roles are Orsino, Duke of Illyria, in love with Olivia; Sebastian, twin brother to Viola; Antonio, a sea captain, friend of Sebastian; Sea Captain, friend of Viola; Curio gentleman attending the duke; Sir Toby Belch, uncle to Olivia; Sir Andrew Aguecheek; Malvolio, steward to Olivia; Fabian, servant to Olivia; Feste, a clown and servant to Olivia; Olivia, who eventually falls for Sebastian; Viola, twin sister to Sebastian, in love with Orsino; Maria, Olivia’s servant; lords; priests; and sailors.
