Standing-room-only crowd at music festival hearing

July 10, 2014

Residents packed the meeting room and stood in a hallway at a June 10  public hearing before the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission in council chambers in Georgetown.

The last item on the evening's agenda was an application from Cool Spring LL, c/o Highway One Limited Partnership, for a conditional use that would permit outdoor entertainment and temporary camping facilities on a 500-acre tract south of Harbeson, between Route 5 and Route 30.

The land is zoned AR-1, agricultural-residential.

Principal Alex Pires signed an agreement April 14 with M&M Farms LLC to lease the property for no more than five festivals, concerts, fundraising events or competitions per year.
