Recipient to be announced end of August
July 18, 2014

The Delaware Small Business Chamber has announced it is creating a special scholarship for a selected student who attends Wilmington University. The objective of the scholarship is to encourage the recipient to develop and open a new business in Delaware following graduation.

Founded in 2011, the DSBC is a statewide resource for small businesses, and the larger businesses that work with those local small business owners, throughout Delaware and the surrounding region.

The DSBC Scholarship will have a total value of $3,600, to which Wilmington University will contribute partial matching funds.

Students can apply for the scholarship through the Wilmington University Graduate Admissions Office. Each interested student will be required to fill out an application and write a business plan essay to be reviewed with the application. In addition, each student must meet the following requirements: maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), be a junior or senior at the university and attend one to two Delaware Small Business Chamber events annually.

Deadline for applications is Friday, Aug. 1. The winner of the scholarship will be announced at the end of August 2014.

To apply for the scholarship or to get more information, contact Robert Older at the DSBC at 302-482-2120 or by email to connections@dsbchamber.com. Wilmington University students may contact Misty Williams at 302-295-1121 or email misty.b.williams@wilmu.edu.
