Gazette columnist should be commended

July 20, 2014

I completely agree with Arthur Sowers’ response to Robert Kuehnl’s letter regarding Don Flood’s commentaries. Mr. Flood is writing for a local newspaper and is correct to focus on local and state issues. Anyone who wants national and international news of any persuasion has a multitude of outlets and sources for that information.

Don Flood’s columns are sometimes right, sometimes left and frequently smack dab in the middle. A thoughtful and intelligent person will and should have different opinions on different topics and is never 100 percent conservative or liberal.

We could save a lot of brain cells by having a consistent and rigid stance on things, but then we wouldn’t ever have to use those brains to consider all of the points of view before forming our opinions, would we?
