County Bank donates to Oak Orchard Boys & Girls Club RIF Program

July 28, 2014

This year the Oak Orchard Boys & Girls Club incorporated the Reading Is Fundamental Program into its summer activities. The program is designed to keep children reading throughout the summer. The hope is for the children to improve their literacy skills and joy of reading by proving them with fun reading materials and incentives. County Bank provided financial support for the program.

The Oak Orchard RIF program consists of four groups of children ages 5-9. Each week a book is selected and the children are supplied with a reading log. The summer program runs for 10 weeks with prizes awarded at the end.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Children take part in educational activities, building self-esteem and positive values during critical stages of their childhood development. They also may take part in athletics, arts and cultural activities.

The Boys & Girls Club of Oak Orchard/Riverdale is at 31550 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro. For more information, go to www.bgclubs.org/page155812/oak-orchard-club.aspx or call 302-945-2244.
