Jill Hicks returns to Browseabout Books Aug. 2 for new book release and signing

July 24, 2014

Jill Hicks will return to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach at 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, to sign copies of her newly released finale to the “Will Power” romance series, which is set in Lewes.  All three books of the series will be available and come highly recommended for summer beach reading.

Her latest release, “Will Power III: Pratt-ically Speaking,” finds three young couples struggling to survive the choices they’ve made and the hands they’ve been dealt. Life isn’t fair, and love can be complicated. Not all endings are happily ever after, or are they?

Hicks and her husband, Bill, are part owners of a family beach house in Lewes. Their summer vacation time has been a major inspiration for Hicks’ novels. The series focuses on a bayfront property and the relational dynamics of the Carter family, friends, spouses, and lovers who are drawn to its charm. Writing in first-person dialogue, Hicks places the reader in the precarious position of occupying each character’s heart and soul. Reviewers have commented that they have found themselves caring about the fates of their favorite characters and requested that their stories continue, ergo the trilogy.  As Hicks wraps local history and flavor around each of her storytellers, one expects to run into them around town or on the beach. Indeed, it will be difficult to bid them farewell at the end of the third book.

Hicks’ other well-received book, “The Long Climb Back,” will also be available for purchase and signing. This story was conceived when Hicks hiked through Zion National Park during a monthlong trip out west in summer 2013. On her way back from the Emerald Pools, Hicks found herself in the midst of a storyline. Also written in first-person dialogue, “The Long Climb Back” is about an adventurous young woman who strikes out on her own after an over-the-top marriage proposal from a winery heir. Her travels introduce her to two engaging brothers. Will she be able to return to her fiancé with her heart intact?

Browseabout Books is at 133 Rehoboth Ave. in Rehoboth Beach.
