2014 women’s clubs presidents meet for brunch
General Federation of Women’s Clubs Delaware State President Henrietta Belcher-Stack and the Executive Committee hosted a brunch for GFWC Delaware State Federation of Women’s Clubs presidents July 19 at the Dover Century Club in Dover, hosted by the Dover Century Club.
Belcher-Stack did address her initiative for her two-year term, 2014-16, which will be Inside Knowledge, a GFWC partner. The Inside Knowledge: Get the Facts About Gynecologic Cancer campaign, www.cdc.gov/cancer/knowledge, raises awareness of the five main types of gynecologic cancer: cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar.
It encourages women to pay attention to their bodies and know what is normal for them, so they can recognize the warning signs of gynecologic cancers and seek medical care. When gynecologic cancers are found early, treatment is most effective.
The General Federation of Women’s Clubs is an international organization whose signature project is Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention.
Throughout Delaware there are 23 General Federation Clubs hosting more than 900 women. The GFWC is a unifying force bringing together local women’s clubs, with members dedicated to strengthening their communities and enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.
With 90,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state and more than a dozen countries, GFWC members are community leaders who work locally to create global change by supporting the arts, preserving national resources, advancing education, promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging civic involvement, and working toward world peace and understanding.
