Farm Bureau Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs to hold ribbon cutting Aug. 1

Event marks first summer Ag Lab program
July 26, 2014

The first statewide project of the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation will wrap up its run at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 1 at the Boys & Girls Club in Georgetown. This summer the foundation’s Ag Lab traveled up and down the state, making stops in Wilmington, Dagsboro, Milford, Rehoboth Beach and Seaford.

The Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware have partnered with the Ag Lab, which aims to educate Delaware’s youth about healthy eating, and agriculture as an industry and way of life. During the half-hour classes, campers learned about making healthier food choices and how food makes it from the field to their tables. Kids also had the chance to plant their own tomato seeds to take home with them.

Special speakers at the ribbon-cutting ceremony will include Pam Bakerian, executive director of Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation; Ed Kee, Delaware secretary of agriculture; and George Krupanski, Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware president.

The Georgetown Boys & Girls Club is at 115 N.  Race St., Georgetown.
