Southern Delaware Tourism adds farm adventures to website resources

August 2, 2014

Southern Delaware Tourism has added a new page to the Side Trips section of its website for visitors and locals interested in exploring farm adventures throughout Sussex County.

In addition to the numerous and award-winning farmers markets available locally, southern Delaware is also home to many farms that welcome visitors and sell their own homegrown products.

For those who may never have been to an alpaca farm, a winery, or a lavender farm, or who haven’t tried farm-fresh ice cream, lavender chocolate, cherry cider, or bison burgers, the new webpage offers listings with addresses or website links and a map.

The page includes listings for farmers markets, farm stores, creameries, plant/flower/tree farms and nurseries, animal farms, wineries, and U-pick operations that are open to the public.

“Small family farms are part of the fabric and appeal of southern Delaware. Those providing visitor activities put more education in a vacation and more stimulation in a side trip,” says Scott Thomas, executive director of Southern Delaware Tourism.

The page may be viewed at http://www.visitsoutherndelaware.com/side-trips/farm-adventures.
