As a longterm visitor and now a property owner in Rehoboth Beach I have fond memories of how things were. My wife and I bought in Rehoboth as a result of believing that those memories and the desire to preserve them were shared by the majority.
We are concerned that those wishes may be being disregarded. All around me I see unique, preservable houses being torn down to accommodate maximum square foot rental machines. My house was built in 1927. There is a plaque on it announcing that it is on the Historic Register. It is without a doubt unique. Nonetheless there is nothing to stop me from bulldozing it and erecting another big square box accommodating as many people as possible.
There may be a chance to slow this down. I ask you to consider the resume of Larry Myslewski, a candidate for Rehoboth Commissioner. Among many other goals Larry shares my feelings about preserving the Rehoboth of our memories. His background and experience as founder of the Foggy Bottom Preservation Society serve as proof positive of his standards and commitment.
Courthouses, parking garages will or will not be built. Wastewater will be disposed of. When we wake up 10 years from know what will be left of our town?
Consider voting for Larry and work to stimulate the rest of our elected officials to keep our city and our memories intact.
