Adorn lives up to its name

August 6, 2014

There's nothing like a great night out to top off a day at the beach.

And there's nothing like the right accessories to get ready for a night on the town. Adorn, 46 Baltimore Ave., opened in May, offering vintage and custom jewelry and accessories, such as earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets and watches from companies such as Tiffany and Cartier.

For owner Carolyn DePrince, Adorn is her first solo venture, after having worked for her family’s antique and accessory business, Crawford, DePrince and Co. After doing roadshows throughout the southern United States, DePrince, who lives in Rehoboth with her son Christopher, decided to take the show off the road and set up her own storefront.

“I’m trying to appeal to everyone. Just a little bit of everything,” she said. DePrince said among the more unusual items are antique cigarette cases that people use for card or credit card holders. The store also deals in antiques.

Prices start at about $50, DePrince said.

“I chose the name Adorn because it explained what we’re selling,” she said. “Putting a piece of jewelry on someone is making them more beautiful. A painting on the wall makes the wall more beautiful. Just showing we have things to adorn whatever you are looking to adorn.”

Adorn is open seven days per week with hours varying. Private appointments and appraisals are also available. For more information, call 302-27-2791 or email adornwithdeprince@gmail.com.
