McGuiness will make Rehoboth best it can be

August 1, 2014

I am writing this letter in support for Kathy McGuiness for Rehoboth Beach Commissioner. As a lifelong resident of the Rehoboth area and a current resident of the Schoolvue neighborhood of Rehoboth, I don’t believe that there is a more dedicated and capable candidate than Kathy. I was prompted to write this letter after she came to my door while canvasing my neighborhood on an oppressively hot day to ask about my concerns. Though she has served the city in many different capacities and has many supporters, she is not content resting on her laurels.

Kathy cares deeply about Rehoboth Beach and the quality of life of its residents and has demonstrated that over the years with her tireless energy and enthusiasm. She has served multiple terms as Rehoboth Beach Commissioner; she was founding president and past secretary and treasurer of Rehoboth Beach Main Street; she has been the driving force behind the fireworks in town.

The fireworks alone are a year-round undertaking of soliciting donations, working out the logistics of traffic, police, fire and working with the fireworks supplier. This is all done for no compensation other than making Rehoboth Beach the best it can be for its residents and visitors. If there is ever an event in Rehoboth in need of organizers or volunteers, Kathy is the first to make herself available to assist. She is willing to listen to all sides and is a genuine person.

Kathy was the first to submit a draft of the Rehoboth tree ordinance, which has helped our city remain beautiful even in the midst of unprecedented new construction. She was an advocate for cleaning up our lakes and updating our water treatment facility. She was also the first to suggest a website for the city and is a strong advocate for tech upgrades, which are essential in this day and age. She is just uses common sense and tries to reach consenus with the commission.

One thing I know about Kathy is that once she sets her mind to something, she will not give up until she gets it done. She has the drive, desire and strong connections at a state level to continue to help Rehoboth to prosper and improve and to be a wonderful place to live for those of us lucky enough to do so! I know she has lobbied at a state level to bring money into the city limits of Rehoboth Beach for years! We need her now more than ever.

On August 9, vote for Kathy McGuiness for Rehoboth Beach Commissioner and help make Rehoboth Beach the best it can be!
