McGlone has competence, values, experience

August 1, 2014

Tom McGlone is a friend and a neighbor I trust. I know Tom quite well, and I see him year-round on a very regular basis. Therefore, I’m very comfortable commenting on his character and his qualifications.

I sincerely believe Tom has the skill set, the values, the personality, and the background to be an outstanding mayor of Rehoboth Beach.

I will vote for Tom McGlone on August 9 because I know, based on his many years of professional and community-based experiences, that he will bring a high level of proficiency to the job, a wide range of abilities, an analytical style, and a caring personality.

To name just a few of Tom McGlone’s well developed skills:

Communications skills - McGlone has developed a high level of communications skills which are critical to presenting the right image of our city, in attracting small businesses to locate here, in recruiting talented city employees, in seeking external funds to support community projects, in showcasing our tremendous assets as the city develops new public-private partnerships, and in working with the commissioners to ensure our Ccty government is effective and efficient.

Managerial and administrative skills - McGlone has strong managerial and administrative experience, supervisory experience, and mentoring and training experiences. This is what he has done in the corporate world very successfully.

Budgeting and financial skills - McGlone has unparalleled experience in developing and managing budgets, short-term and long-term, and in providing direct accountability to customers

Technology skills - McGlone has been extraordinarily successful in applying technology to increase efficiency, effectiveness and productivity in his business.

Community relations skills - McGlone has a proven track record of working well with diverse populations in problem solving and consensus building.

Strategic planning skills - McGlone has built a prosperous and solid business by his ability to engage diverse communities of people in long range planning.

Tom will work closely with all constituencies to preserve our small town atmosphere while fostering a welcoming tone for our summer visitors. He will provide the balance needed to ensure the rights of residents and property owners, the interests of the small businesses, and the amenities and services tourists expect.

McGlone has the proven capacity to translate his skills, abilities and values to confront the future challenges the mayor will face. As a city we are indeed fortunate to have someone as talented, articulate, intelligent, experienced and committed to provide leadership for the future as Tom McGlone.

Please join me in voting for Tom McGlone Saturday, Aug. 9,. I believe in Tom and I know he will be successful in implementing his vision to make Rehoboth Beach a great place for all!
