Famous October and The Bowmans perform Aug. 18 in Lewes

Famous October and The Bowmans will be performing at 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 18, at the Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware, 33739 Marsh Road in Lewes. Tickets are available at the door for $10 per person; no reservations are necessary.

Famous October members Sarah Bowman and Rene Coal are two singer-songwriters currently living in Switzerland. They combine vocal harmony with cello and guitar to bring their moving stories to life. Their sound pulls from Americana, country, folk, and surprising classical elements. Attending their concert is an open door into the heartwarming and picturesque world that is created by both the music and the intimate connection they instantly have with their audience.

Winners of the Werkbeiträge Prize of canton Nidwalden, Switzerland, and the Verein für Musikschaffende Schweiz selected artists for the prestigious Künstlerbörse in 2014, Famous October has made a splash in their first full year of existence. With harmonies that seem to come as if in one astonishing voice, The Bowmans - Sarah and Claire - share a rare, near-telepathic musical bond. The traveling twins are a roller coaster duo, ranging from captivating to joyful. The Bowmans deeply move and delight their audiences worldwide with their blend of folk, Americana and classical music. Their albums include “Make Sure the Snow Falls,” “Live at Powerplay Studios," “The Bowmans," and “Far From Home.”

The Bowmans were selected artists on BBC2 Bob Harris Show, song selection on NPR's "All Songs Considered," winners of the Paste Magazine Cayamo Cruise selection, and earned an honorable mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest (www.thebowmansmusic.com).
