Well-Strung returns to Rehoboth for Sept. 26 concert
Back by overwhelming demand, the all-male string quartet with the memorable name Well-Strung is coming to the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center for a 9 p.m. concert Friday, Sept. 26. The musicians, who are accomplished classical artists with a sense of flair - and humor - performed for sold-out crowds last year and are returning with an all-new show, “Popssical.”
The concert is being hosted by CAMP Rehoboth, an organization that provides services to the LGBT community and promotes a culture of inclusion in Rehoboth Beach. Tickets are in limited supply and range from $35 to $100. They can be purchased at CAMP Rehoboth, 37 Baltimore Ave., during office hours or at www.camprehoboth.com.
The classical musicians put their own spin on Mozart and Vivaldi, but also take on Rihanna, Adele, Lady Gaga and other contemporary artists. The New York Daily News called them “the hottest things with a bow since Jennifer Lawrence in 'The Hunger Games.'”
Last year, the shows sold out quickly, so the decision was made to move this year’s concert to a larger venue. “The convention center is a great space,” says Murray Archibald, CAMP Rehoboth board president. “We have the room to provide concert-style seating and still offer premium seating at small tables near the stage for those who prefer a cabaret experience.”
Well-Strung consists of first violinist Edmund Bagnell, second violinist Christopher Marchant, cellist Daniel Shevlin, and violist Trevor Wadleigh. The quartet was formed by producer/co-writer/manager Mark Cortale and Marchant. Individually and as a group, they have played concerts around the world, and have theater credits in addition to their impressive musical accomplishments. Well-Strung has been featured in a wide variety of newspapers and magazines and has appeared on television news programs and the "Today" show. Video clips from some of the group’s performances can be viewed at http://www.well-strung.com/video.asp.
The presenting sponsors for this year’s show are CAMP Rehoboth Community Center, Stephen Manos and Dos Locos Fajita & Stonegrill Restaurant. The sponsors for the show are Charlie Lee and Horst’s Consulting Services Inc.
