Joseph W. Vance Jr., retired supervisor

Joseph W. Vance Jr., 72 of Lewes, formerly of King of Prussia, Pa., passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at his home.

Joe was born in Philadelphia, Pa., Nov, 28, 1941 son of the late Joseph W. and Georgianna (Campbell) Vance Sr. He retired as a supervisor with T-Thermal in Conshohocken, Pa. after 23 years of service.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel Crowers; and three sisters, Jean Van Horn, Geraldine Zander and Elizabeth Vance. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joan Mary (Shamansky) Vance; five children, Joseph W. Vance III of Norristown, Pa., Carol Ann (John) Wlock of King of Prussia, Robert G. Vance and his companion, Cheryl Debro of Mount Pocono, Pa., Jeanne Marie (Steven) Crowers of King of Prussia and Joan (Michael) DeStefano of Eugene, Ore. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Heather and John Wlock, Kyle, Gina, Malachi, Nathan, James and Sierra Vance, Danielle, Stephanie and Emily Crowers and Melody and Mason DeStefano; and four sisters, Annamay Wetzel of N. Wildwood, N.J., Georgeanna (Donald) Lawley of King of Prussia, Helen (Michael) Neubaum of Lewes and Alice (Donald) Vanderslice of Folcroft, Pa.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Aug. 20,  at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro. The funeral service will begin at noon at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Joseph’s name the Delaware SPCA, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
