Del Tech vice president to address Georgetown Chamber Aug. 13
Dr. Ileana Smith, vice president and director of Delaware Technical Community College at the Owens Campus in Georgetown, will be the featured guest speaker at the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce monthly Breakfast Membership Meeting Wednesday, Aug. 13, in the dining area of the Student Services Building at Del Tech - the new location for this chamber meeting. The meeting is slated for 7:45 to 8:45 a.m., a new time as well.
The Georgetown Chamber is honored to have Smith accept its invitation to be guest speaker at this first breakfast event on her campus, and guests will hear all about the exciting educational and community programs Delaware Tech is spearheading, and how business leaders can become stronger partners in these efforts. RSVPs are required for the breakfast; cost is $9, which can be paid online at www.georgetowncoc.com or at the door by cash, check or credit card. Call 302-856-1544 to reserve a seat or email info@georgetowncoc.com.
Immediately following the meeting, members invite all to stay stay for Del Tech’s 1 Million Cups initiative, which starts at 9 a.m., also in the Student Services Building. Every Wednesday morning, the 1 Million Cups program features two early-stage startups who present their companies to a diverse audience of mentors, advisers and other entrepreneurs. Each founder presents for six minutes and then fields audience questions for another 20 minutes. The program is run entirely by local entrepreneurs who serve as community organizers. To find out more about 1 Million Cups, contact Christopher Moody, director of Corporate and Community Programs, at 302-259-6315.
The Georgetown Chamber will continue to hold its breakfast meetings at 7:45 a.m. on the second Wednesday of every month in the Student Services Building at Del Tech in Georgetown. For information on these and other meetings, call 302-856-1544 or go to www.georgetowncoc.com.
