Special Olympics Delaware celebrated its 14th annual summer camp August 9-11 at Camp Barnes in Frankford where 58 Special Olympics athletes enjoyed a three-day, two-night camp featuring sports training and traditional camp activities.
The camp offered recreational and sports activities such as archery, kayaking, boating, swimming, dancing, arts and crafts and other SODE sports.
More than 60 volunteer counselors staffed the camp, including 25 high school and college students from Project UNIFY and student athletes from the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Leadership Conference.
"The support of the local community and efforts of our countless volunteers help make the summer camp a highlight of the year for our athletes," said SODE Executive Director Ann Grunert.
