Lewes couple thanks Historic Preservation Committee

August 15, 2014

The following letter was sent to Lewes Mayor Ted Becker with a copy subitted to the Cape Gazette for publication.

The citizens of Lewes are fortunate to have a dedicated Historic Preservation Committee devoted to the preservation and maintenance of the Lewes Historic District and the historical structures of Lewes. We live in a town unsurpassed in charm, beauty and history, qualities which might erode without vigilant oversight.

Through attentive and cooperative collaboration, property owners within the protected historic district will most certainly arrive at improvements and enhancements to their homes that enrich rather than diminish the charm that brought them to Lewes in the first place.

Choosing to purchase a property in the historic district includes adherence to architectural limitations and constraints which must be weighed heavily in a purchase decision.

Please thank the members of the HPC who dedicate many hours to our beautiful town.
