Phillip Morton Gallery to host receptions for Al Lachman Aug. 15-16

August 13, 2014

For artist Al Lachman, painting is as natural as breathing. Recognized as a master colorist, Lachman paints intuitively, pouring himself into the painting while inviting the viewer to accompany him on a journey.

Lachman is an accomplished painter, instructor, juror and author celebrating a career milestone of 57 years of painting. Over the years, he has incorporated his artistic vision and vast knowledge with oil, pastels, acrylic and mixed media, creating his own bold, colorful, spontaneous and painterly style.

"Each painting begins with a premise, and I rarely use the same one twice. It is based on what I see and what I am feeling at that moment. I do not think that painting is about technique. It is about a particular perception of the world around us,” says Lachman..

“Creativity comes from inspiration, and we are inspired and influenced by others, by their uniqueness. I believe everyone is special and has something to offer. This is how we grow, by giving of ourselves to others, and by so doing, we give value to our lives."

Born in 1936, Lachman was classically trained in oil painting at the Art Students League, the School of Visual Arts and Syracuse University. He has received numerous awards including Best of Show at the Pastel Society of America Annual Show in New York City, which is the highest honor bestowed upon any U.S. pastelist annually.

Lachman is represented in thousands of private and corporate collections throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and South America.

Lachman is known for his luminous colors and expressive paintings of Bucks County barns and landscapes, as well as his accomplished works of The Homeless series shown as part of the Contemporary Eye exhibition at the James A. Michener Museum. His paintings continue to garner the attention of art collectors for fine art investment as well as receiving numerous accolades and honors over the years.

Lachman has also been recognized by “Who’s Who in American Art” for his lifetime of achievements and contributions in American art. This prestigious honor validates his almost six decades of painting and places him among America’s foremost artists.

There are two opening receptions to meet Al Lachman: 6 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 15, and 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 16. The receptions are open to all.
