Twenty-one regionally and nationally acclaimed Lewes artists will open their studios from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20. A resounding success in years past, the Lewes Artists Studio Tour showcases the diverse talent in the Lewes art community and gives the public a chance to explore and discover the variety of media presented by these artists. Painting, textiles, photography, jewelry, wood, pottery, mosaics and mixed media represent the diversity of their art work.

Artists opening their studios on the tour include: Susan Bartley, Linda Dickey, Jean Doran, Perry Drevo, Kevin Fleming, Diane Issel, Lacy Letonoff, Victor Letonoff, Bert Long, Leslie Delmege McDonald, Lorelei Meanor, Connie Miller, Aina Nergaard-Nammack, Marilyn Nugent, Barbara Petterson, Steve Rogers, Nick Serratore, Michael Sprouse, Barbara Warden, Caryl Ekirch Williams and George Williams.

Two returning artists, Lacy and Victor Letonoff, are showcasing their brand-new studios. The Letonoffs were previously on Railroad Avenue and are now on Second Street. Lacy uses bold color combinations and designs to create dramatic, unique knitted clothing. Victor works primarily in oil and watercolor to paint portraits, still lifes and figurative works.

Three new artists are joining the tour. Diane Issel’s pottery is a combination of hand building and pottery wheel work to create colorful ceramic plaques depicting forms of nature and ceramic vintage handbags. Michael Sprouse’s stylized portraits are what he is most known for with his collectors. Linda Dickey’s paintings are known for being lighthearted, whimsical and vibrant.

Brochures with maps indicating the location of each studio are available in the Lewes and Rehoboth chambers of commerce, as well as shops and hotels throughout the Lewes/Rehoboth area, and on the web at www.lewesart.com.
