Henry "Calvert" Richardson, old-fashioned banker

Henry "Calvert" Richardson, 76, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home Friday, Aug. 22, 2014.

Calvert was born in Willards, Md., May 13, 1938, the only son of the late Howard and Etta Mae Richardson. Calvert graduated from Georgetown High School and then joined the Army. After his honorable discharge he attended and graduated from Goldey Beacom College Aug. 10, 1959. He then began his 41-year career at Wilmington Trust Co., retiring Sept. 30, 2000. Calvert was an old-fashioned banker; many of his deals were done with a handshake and his word, which allowed many people to turn their dreams into realities. He was also a farmer for many years, a Republican Party Committee Man, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Gethsemane Lodge in Reliance.

Calvert was passionate in his life with a love of horses and his grandson, Will. He will be remembered by his friends as always having a smile and quick with a story. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann Richardson; a son, Howard Richardson and his wife, Stephani; and a grandson, Will.

Graveside Services will be held Friday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m., at Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery, County Seat Hwy., Georgetown. Friends may call at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St., Seaford, Thursday, Aug. 28, from 6 to 8  p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations may be made to the Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery, c/o Marcie Anderson, 14873 Baker Mill Road, Seaford, DE 19973.
