Restore sanity to the office of sheriff

September 1, 2014

It is time to restore some integrity to the office of Sheriff of Sussex County. In the Republican Primary Sept. 9, Robert Lee is the only candidate with the character and experience in the court system who can achieve that goal. Robert Lee is the only candidate who can restore the court’s, the law enforcement community’s and the citizens' confidence in the Sussex County Sheriff.

That confidence has been lost by a ham-handled naked grab for power by the current sheriff - a grab for power that cost the people of this county thousands of dollars in legal expenses. A grab for power that was so consuming that he neglected his office, costing the county more thousands of dollars in fees, when he mishandled the bid and lost Family Court’s business.

A grab for power that, even though thwarted by our elected Sussex County Council, our elected Legislature in Dover, the Superior Court and finally a unanimous Delaware Supreme Court, continues to this day.

Despite his vow to leave the state and thus not seek re-election if he lost in the courts, he now runs on a platform promising to “protect” Sussex County with is “possé” of 300 volunteers by asserting some Constitutional authority that does not exist.

Restore not only integrity but also sanity to the office of Sheriff of Sussex County Sept. 9. Vote for Robert Lee.
