SPAHR to host jewelry trunk show Aug. 30

August 28, 2014

SPAHR in Rehoboth Beach will host a reception and jewelry trunk show from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, featuring works by Washington, D.C. jeweler Paul Kerkhoven.

“This is our second trunk show featuring works by Paul Kerkhoven,” said SPAHR owner Scott Spahr. “His works are created for both men and women and reflect his concern for the environment.” Kerkhoven, an energy consultant, was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to the United States when he was 15 years old. He began working in silver and gold to first create unique Christmas and birthday gifts for members of his family. It has now become his passion.

Kerkhoven loves using various materials including cutouts from vintage lunch boxes, billiard and bowling balls, petrified wood, dinosaur bone and pearls, coral and other formerly living materials, some of which can be over 140 million years old. His works have been recognized by several publications including the Washington Post. Kerkhoven will be on hand for the event.

SPAHR is at 43 Baltimore Ave. in Rehoboth Beach and is one of Rehoboth’s most unique stores. Owner Spahr designs and creates clothing for both men and women as well as items for the home. All of his designs are created at the store.
