The 8th Annual Go Red for Women Luncheon and Fashion Show to take place September 17 at Baywood Greens

August 27, 2014

Heart disease is the Number 1 killer of men and women.  In the United States, one out of every four women dies of heart disease, according to the National Institutes of Health.

To raise awareness about heart disease in women, the American Heart Association in 2004 kicked off the Go Red for Women social and educational initiative, which includes an annual fundraising luncheon bringing women together to learn more about the disease so that they can empower themselves.

Beebe Healthcare  will sponsor the 8th Annual Go Red for Women Luncheon and Fashion Show Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the Clubhouse at Baywood Greens in Long Neck. Doors will open at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. The cost is $30 a person.

Keynote speaker will be interventional cardiologist Mouhanad Freih, who joined the Beebe Medical Staff in 2008. An accomplished physician, he is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.  He sees patients at his private practice, Clinic by the Sea in Lewes, and has performed many life-saving cardiac interventions at Beebe Healthcare. Before practicing at Beebe, Dr. Freih had earned several research excellence awards while completing his fellowship work in cardiology research.

As an extra addition to the luncheon event, community health nurses from the Beebe’s Population Health Department will be providing blood pressure screenings for those attending the luncheon from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Co-Chairs of the event are Pat Sandy of the Beebe Medical Center Auxiliary and Judy Aliquo
