Lewes Library ends successful Summer Reading Programs

The Lewes Public Library Summer Reading Programs have come to an end. The theme of this year’s Children’s Summer Reading Program was Fizz, Boom, Read! and 1,300 children participated by reading books and attending programs. Those who successfully completed the program were invited to the completers' party and received books and other prizes. Sponsors were the Delaware Division of the Arts and The Friends of Lewes Public Library.

One hundred twenty-five teens participated in the second Summer Reading Challenge for kids ages 12 to 18. Participants completed various library and reading-themed activities to fill out a bingo board and win prizes. Winners were Isaac Ewing, Stephanie Haney, Kelsey Huling, Toni DeBastiani, and Joseph Drumheller. Prizes were generously donated by Jungle Jim’s and Surf Bagel. Financial support was provided by Clean Energy USA and Walmart of Rehoboth Beach.

Adults were invited to take part in the second annual Adult Summer Reading Program. Participants read books and attended library programs to earn entries into drawings for end-of-summer prizes. Two special programs were presented by rocket scientist Jack Clemons, and attendees were awarded extra entries for attending either of these programs.

Prizes were generously donated by Dr. and Mrs. Richard Appleby, John Lehne of 302 Fitness, Baker’s Exxon, Kelley Abate of CK’s Salon & Spa, Henlopen City Oyster House, Morningstar Alpaca Farm, Silk & Sands Florist, Surf Bagel, Urban Studio and Fabulous Faces.
