Compassionate Friends meets Sept. 11 for open forum on parental grief

Airing concerns and questions about parental grief will be the focus of the Thursday, Sept. 11 support group meeting of The Compassionate Friends Lighthouse Chapter. The group meets at 7 p.m. in the Branford Lounge of Epworth United Methodist Church on Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach.

As summer ends, and school and holidays are on the horizon, bereaved parents often have concerns and questions dealing with the future and memories of the past. Bereaved parents look for hope and how to cope, and what to do to overcome the intense grief that at times threatens to consume them. The discussion forum will be open for questions from the newly bereaved as well as from those who have managed grief for a year or more.

Participants are encouraged to bring a photograph of their child to be set up on the Memory Table. Bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings are encouraged to attend.
