Bayhealth presents Service Excellence Award

February 21, 2011

Women’s service nurse Sherry Hill, RN, recently earned the Service Excellence Award at Bayhealth Medical Center-Milford Memorial Hospital. Patients and peers consistently describe Hill as a wonderful nurse who gives excellent care and is known as a strong patient advocate.

“Sherry always does whatever is possible to fulfill her patient’s needs. She collaborates with her teammates to serve her patients and resolve any special requests or challenges,” said Milford Memorial Hospital Women’s Services Nurse Manager Karen Kelly, RN, MSN. Kelly said Hill has received many honors cards from new mothers who have delivered babies and are deeply grateful for the care they have received from Hill. Entire families have returned to the hospital to thank Hill personally, and she has been recognized frequently for her emphasis on family-centered care.

“The most rewarding part for me is knowing that I had an opportunity in helping to bring a new life into this world. There is no other feeling than seeing a child open her eyes for the first time, and to see the joy in the faces of the family members,” said Hill.

Hill has served in the Women’s Services Department at Milford Memorial Hospital for eight years, and she has been a nurse for nine years. She earned her associate’s degree in nursing from Delaware Technical & Community College in Georgetown ad is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Wilmington University.
