Alicia Balderas was visiting Georgetown from her home in McAllen, Texas, when she decided to investigate Georgetown history at the Old Courthouse.
The visit was all the more informative as she was able to take advantage of the Spanish-language tours offered to Old Courthouse guests. Balderas, 64, is fluent in Spanish, but her language ability in English is somewhat limited.
Courthouse volunteer host Julio Tijerina, a student at Sussex Academy, was able to impart Old Courthouse history to Balderas in her native language, which made the tour more enjoyable for her.
