Terry Reid, general manager of the McDonald’s Restaurants of Eastern Shore Georgetown location, recently received the Ray Kroc Award, an annual performance-based award that recognizes the top-performing McDonald’s restaurant managers globally.

Named after McDonald’s Corp. founder Ray Kroc, the award was established in 1999 to honor hardworking managers in both corporate-owned and independently owned and operated restaurants. Reid was one of the 340 McDonald’s restaurant managers around the world (representing the top 1 percent of restaurant managers) to receive the honor, which includes a cash prize and a trophy.

Reid will be awarded her prize Wednesday, April 13, at the Ray Kroc Awards Gala in Orlando, Fla., hosted by McDonald’s President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Easterbrook and McDonald’s Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer David Fairhurst.

“I feel very honored to be selected to receive this prestigious, global award,” said Reid “Working for an employer that focuses on developing its people, I strived to work hard with my McDonald’s team to achieve this goal in my career.”

McDonald's owner/operators and regional management nominate restaurant managers for the Ray Kroc Awards to recognize their hard work, dedication and commitment to McDonald's and its customers.

“Terry being honored with the Ray Kroc Award is a true testament to her commitment to excellence, building our business and taking care of our customers’ needs each and every day,” said Mike Meoli, McDonald’s Restaurants of Eastern Shore owner/operator. “We are truly proud to have Terry as part of our McDonald’s family and commend her on this amazing accolade.”

Reid has worked at various McDonald’s restaurants owned and operated by The Meoli Family McDonald’s Restaurants. She became general manager in 2008 and was promoted to area supervisor in December 2015. The Baltimore Washington Region previously recognized Reid as outstanding general manager in 2014 for leading the restaurant in consistently monitoring and producing high-quality food, properly operating and maintaining restaurant equipment, and overall service excellence.

McDonald’s is committed to creating employment opportunities for people of all ages and from all backgrounds, as well as boosting employability to help people gain the skills and experience they need to progress in their careers. McDonald’s provides opportunities for progression and promoting from within; around 90 percent of restaurant management began their careers as crew members.
