10 Top Reasons for Living in the "Nation's Summer Capital" of Rehoboth Beach

January 12, 2017

After mentions in several regional and national publications over the last few years, more and more people are learning about the gem that is coastal Delaware. We, of course, think it’s great that the word is getting out – this is truly a wonderful place to live and work.

But it’s one thing to say great things about some thing or some place that you love.  It’s another thing entirely to substantiate those feelings, and that’s what we’re going to do here today.

We’ll do a few of these blog entries in the coming weeks and months, but for today we want to focus on the “Nation’s Summer Capital” of Rehoboth Beach.

We love it here and we know you do to, or you soon will. But what is it that makes Delaware’s favorite seaside paradise such a great place?

Well, we’re going to tell you right now.

Here are our “Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Live in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware," counting down from number 10 to our absolute favorite thing about life in this fabulous coastal city.

10. The Size

Rehoboth is not an excessively large beach town, and we like it that way. With Rehoboth Proper being just one square mile, it’s small and intimate enough to allow neighbors the chance to get to know each other and build lasting relationships. But with all of the excitement of Route 1 just around the corner, there’s also plenty to do whenever the mood strikes.

9. The Festivals

Rehoboth Beach is never short of fun things to do, and there are several festivals each year that are looked forward to by the community. These include the 4th of July celebration, the Polar Bear Plunge every February and the signature Sea Witch Halloween and Fiddler’s Festival every October.

8. The History

As with much of southern Delaware, Rehoboth Beach is ripe with history. Dating back to its origins as a Methodist retreat and campground, you can practically feel the history at every turn. And if you want to examine the history of Delaware’s favorite beach town further, visit the Rehoboth Museum on Rehoboth Avenue or the Anna Hazzard Museum on Christian Street.

7. The “Feel”

When you drive or walk into Rehoboth Beach, you can almost feel the tension and the stress leaving your body. I mean, you’re at the beach right? Breathe in the salt air, and the Thrasher’s French fries, then find a spot on the beach and just feel all the negative energy floating away.

6. The People

With residents who have moved to Rehoboth from several different states, the makeup of the city is certainly an eclectic one. Add in a large and still growing LGBT community, a few hundred college students in the summertime, international workers and other ethnic groups, and Rehoboth is truly a unique place to call home.
