Cape May – Lewes Ferry Hosts First Beer Flight Dinner in Lewes - Features Fine Food, Ferry Fun, and Craft Selections from Dogfish Head Brewery; Seating Limited
(Lewes, NJ) Delaware craft beer lovers unite and get ready to tempt your taste buds! The Cape May – Lewes Ferry is hosting its first-ever Delaware Beer Flight Dinner at the Lewes Ferry terminal. Enjoy a full-course dinner complete with Dogfish Head Brewing Company’s specially crafted selections on Friday, May 8, 2015. This unique dinner and beer pairing delight will be held inside the newly renovated passenger lounge of the Lewes Ferry Terminal. The cost for the all-inclusive dinner, which begins with the Chef’s Selection of Hors d’ oeuvres at 5:30 p.m., is $50 per person.
“We’ve held a number of sold-out beer flight dinners in Cape May and received rave reviews,” said Joe Peltz, Superintendent of Food and Retail for the Ferry. “Our customers really enjoyed these events and the discussions of the craft beer selections. We want to offer the same great experience to our Delaware customers. With Dogfish’s extensive selection of fine craft beers paired with tasty cuisine prepared by our talented chefs, this will be an event you definitely won’t want to miss!”
The Ferry Beer Flight dinners are beer’s equivalent to wine tastings. The Beer Flight Dinners showcase both the Lewes Terminal as a special event venue and they help promote the regional craft brewing industry. The gourmet 4-course dinners features the talents of award-winning resident Chef Ingrid Dellatorre. On the Rocks in Lewes has been named one of Delaware’s Best for two years running, and the Lewes terminal kitchen was recently renovated to better serve special events and showcase Chef Dellatorre’s talents.
Festivities kick off at 5:30 PM with a reception, including Chef's Selection of Hors d' oeuvres with “cocktail" tastings of Dogfish Head Brewing Company’s Noble Rot. The reception is followed by Spicy Gazpacho with Shrimp and Goat Cheese Crema, which is paired with Dogfish’s Sixty One IPA. The salad course featuring Arugula with Orange Segments, Caramelized Pecans with Coriander Infused Lemon Vinaigrette. The salad course is paired with Dogfish’s Namaste.
The Entrée includes Grilled Herb Pork Chop with Indian Brown Demi, Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Bacon and Onions, and Hand Cut Sweet Potato Fries paired with Dogfish’s Indian Brown.
To conclude the dinner, enjoy Mixed Berry Custard Tart with Apricot Glaze paired with Dogfish Head’s unique Aprihop. Peltz added that a Dogfish Head Brewing Co. representative will attend the May 8 event to discuss the various beer styles served at the dinner.

Starting in January 2015, the Ferry hosted a series of four “Beer Flight Dinners” at the Cape May Ferry terminal that proved extremely popular. The series concluded in April and the participating craft breweries for these events included the Cape May Brewing Company, Tuckahoe Brewery, Flying Fish Brewing Company, and River Horse Brewing. The Delaware Beer Pairing was created based on popular demand from customers desiring similar events featuring Delaware Craft Brews.
