Sunfest, Ladybug Music Festival Headline A Busy Events Weekend in the Coastal Region

September 18, 2019

As will be the case for the next several weeks, we again have a full slate of popular fall festivals to tell you about in our latest “Weekender Blog,” as always brought to you by the real estate professionals at the Oldfather Group of Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty.

The biggest events for this third weekend of September include the 2019 Ocean City Sunfest, as well as this year’s second annual Ladybug Music Festival in Milford.

Other happenings over the next few days are being held in Dewey Beach, Milton and Lewes, so be sure to keep reading below for more on what’s happening this weekend in Delaware and Maryland’s coastal region.

Now, here are our choices for fun local events for the weekend of September 20-22 at and near the Delaware and Maryland beaches. We begin in Ocean City and one of the biggest events of the fall:

Ocean City Sunfest (September 19-22).  Ocean City throws one of the biggest parties of the year over the next few days, as the multi-day Sunfest event returns with plenty of musical entertainment, kid’s activities, great food and much more.

This year’s headliners are Granger Smith, Tr0mbone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and the “Who’s Bad” ultimate Michael Jackson experience.

As always, the festival is free to attend, though tickets are required for headline acts.

Hours for this year’s event are Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Events are held at the Ocean City Inlet parking area, adjacent to the city’s world-famous boardwalk.

Ladybug Music Festival (September 21). “The largest celebration of women in music,” is again being held in Milford this Saturday, Sept. 21, with 40 acts performing at 13 different venues around the city.

The main stage for this year’s second annual event will be at Walnut Street and Park Avenue downtown, while acts on a second stage will be performing at the Richard Johnson Amphitheater at the Milford Public Library. The festival is scheduled to run from 3 to 9 p.m.

This marks the second year that the event has strayed outside of the city of Wilmington, with Milford being chosen as the host site. Milford is widely considered to be the place where the ladybug officially became Delaware’s state bug many years ago.

More than 40 artists are expected to perform from areas throughout the United States and Canada. The headliner is Willow Hill, a husband and wife country act from Nashville.

Dewey Beach End of Season Party (September 21). The 2019 summer season officially comes to an end this weekend in Dewey Beach, at New Orleans Street and Bellevue Street Beach.

Enjoy plenty of food, beer and wine, as well as a crush bar, a bonfire, live music and plenty of good coastal fun. Some great bands are being featured this year, including Ben Leroy and the Snap and the 19th Street Band.

A general admission of $5 will be collected at the entrance and tables that can seat 10 are available for $125. For more information, visit the event web page at www.eventbrite.com.
