We've Got Seven Great Happenings To Tell You About This Week in Delaware and Maryland's Coastal Regions

May 19, 2021

Just one more week now until we hit Memorial Day Weekend 2021 and kick off the traditional summer season here at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

And with the coronavirus situation continuing to improve and mask mandates becoming more relaxed every week, we're looking forward to a fantastic summer!

We've got seven great things to tell you about today in our next to last "Weekender" blog of May, most centered around the beach areas as we begin transitioning into the year's busiest season.

We invite you to keep reading and learn how you can have a pleasant and memorable weekend coming up. But we also want to preview something that's coming up on Friday, and that's a blog highlighting and showcasing a number of outdoor concerts that will be coming up over the next few months.

There are a number of venues that will be holding outdoor concerts this year and we're going to give you all you need to know moving forward. As a reminder, we did include the 2021 shows at the new Freeman Arts Pavilion in an earlier blog, which you can read here.

But that's coming up on Friday. For now, scroll below to learn about all that's happening during the weekend of May 21-23.

And plan for an incredible weekend here in the coastal region!

Let's get started...

Rehoboth Arts Festival (May 22)

This first ever event is a collaboration between the City of Rehoboth Beach and the Rehoboth Art League and will take place this Saturday, May 22, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., in Grove Park.

Local artists will showcase their work under a bevy of colorful tents at this new event, which is modeled after other similar events in other areas of the mid-Atlantic.

In case of rain, the event will instead be held the following day, on Sunday, May 23.

Outdoor Street Market (May 22)

Head on over to Jungle Jim's in Rehoboth Beach this Saturday May 22, for a fun and festive outdoor street market.

Organized by the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce, this late May event includes all sorts of "both old and new treasures" in a fun atmosphere.

The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and will include handmade items, antiques, collectibles, used business inventory and much more. Food trucks will also be onsite for when you get hungry.

Admission is free but donations are accepted and appreciated.

Tanger Outlets Carnival (May 21-23)

Tanger Seaside will be hosting a family-friendly carnival this Friday to Sunday in the parking lot area between Chipotle and The Children's Place.

The event includes everything you might expect from a summertime carnival, including rides, cotton candy, games and plenty of fun, family-friendly activities.

The hours for the carnival will be on Friday, from 4 to 11 p.m, Saturday from 12 to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 12 to 10 p.m.

Unlimited ride wristbands are available online for $20 prior to 4 p.m., on May 21 or for $25 afterwards. Wristbands are good for unlimited rides for one day of the festival only.
