Winter Jam in Dewey, Several Community Events in Rehoboth Beach Scheduled for this Weekend

February 5, 2020

As we continue making our way through the offseason here at the Delaware and Maryland beaches, we have several fun and family-friendly events coming up over the next few weeks. That includes this second weekend of February.

This weekend’s events calendar is highlight by the annual “Winter Jam” at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach. This is a fun time and a chance to raise money for several programs of the Cape Henlopen School District, so head to the Rudder this Friday night and have some fun, while also supporting a great cause.

Other events we’re featuring this weekend are in Rehoboth Beach and Milton. We invite you to keep reading below for much more on what you can do over the next few days to defeat the winter blahs.

We begin in Dewey Beach…

Winter Jam 2020 (February 7). It’s time once again for one of the highlights of the offseason in Dewey Beach, with this Friday night’s “Winter Jam” held at the Rusty Rudder.

Scheduled for 7 to 11 p.m., this annual event is a fundraiser for the Cape Henlopen School District, with much of the funds used for teacher grants, financial support for homeless and low income students, performing arts education and more.

This year’s event will feature food prepared by several of coastal Delaware’s most popular restaurants, as well as live and silent auctions and live music by the Blue Label Band.

Tickets for the 2020 Winter Jam are $35 and can be purchased online at www.chef-cape.org.

Community Health Fair (February 8). Stop by the Atlantic Sands on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk on Saturday, February 8, for this year’s community health fair, organized by Beebe Healthcare.

Scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., this year’s fair will include health screenings, as well as interactive experiences, information on medications, instructions on how to reverse an opioid overdose and more.

This is a free event and all members of the public are invited to attend. Learn more at www.beebehealthcare.org.

Delaware Black History Event (February 7). Celebrate Black History Month this Friday evening at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center in downtown Rehoboth Beach.

Located on Baltimore Avenue, CAMP Rehoboth is planning a wide ranging celebration for 2020. Scheduled events and activities include an art auction beginning at 6 p.m., a panel discussion at 7 p.m., and much more.

The panel discussion is a joint collaboration between CAMP Rehoboth and the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ), and will focus on what it used to be like for people of color growing up in Sussex County.

For more information, visit CAMP Rehoboth or SDARJ online.
