‘Ladies of the Secret Circus’ author Constance Sayers to chat Nov. 9

November 3, 2021

Author Constance Sayers and award-winning novelist Alma Katsu will discuss Sayers’ new book, “The Ladies of the Secret Circus,” at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9, in a live, online event hosted by the Lewes Public Library and Browseabout Books.

“The Ladies of the Secret Circus” is a decadent, magical tale of family secrets and lost love. Set against the backdrop of an extraordinary circus in 1920s Paris, Sayers describes a world where women weave illusions of magnificent beasts, carousels take people back in time and trapeze artists float across the sky. Generations later, readers meet Lara Barnes, a young woman on top of the world – until her fiancé disappears on their wedding day. Lara’s desperate search for answers leads to her great-grandmother’s journals, which reveal stories of a dark circus, ill-fated love and a curse that has been claiming payment from the women in her family for generations.

Sayers was a finalist for Alternating Current's 2016 Luminaire Award for Best Prose. Her short fiction has been published in several collections and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net.

Katsu is an international award-winning author of six works of historical/horror/paranormal fiction.
