‘Visually Disrepaired: Paintings and Drawings by Scott G. Brooks’ opens at CAMP Rehoboth Nov. 10

November 3, 2018

CAMP Rehoboth has announced the opening of a solo exhibition by Baltimore artist Scott G. Brooks, with an Artists Reception Saturday, Nov. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m.

In Visually Disrepaired: Paintings and Drawings by Scott G. Brooks the artist will exhibit a variety of new and older work, prints, and more.

Brooks’ artworks are figurative and range from simple portraiture to intricate narratives. “I create work based on the figure. It is a language that is accessible and facilitates communication. Like dance, a narrative is created without words. The stories are told in the infinite number of faces, gestures, and bodies that inhabit my work,” he said.

Brooks’ art incorporates social, psychological, and political issues, usually infused with a dark sense of humor. “Even in my most severe pieces, humor exists on some level, if only as a reminder not to take ourselves too seriously.”

The artist reception Nov. 10 is free. The exhibition will be on display from Nov. 3-28. CAMP Rehoboth is located at 37 Baltimore Ave. in Rehoboth Beach. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
