100 Women Who Care donates $7K to Teach a Person to Fish

May 25, 2021

The Founders Circle of 100 Women Who Care Southern Delaware recently presented a $7,000 donation to Teach a Person to Fish Society, a local nonprofit whose mission is to make sustainable use of natural resources to support those in need in southern Delaware.

The presentation took place at the garden built in partnership with Fellowship Health Services at Michela’s Place, a group home that recently opened in Milton.

Teresa Ripley, executive director of Teach a Person to Fish Society, said, “This generous donation from the 100 Women Who Care Southern Delaware will help us continue our work and achieve our long-term goal to obtain land for a sustainable eco-village to house and provide food and services for the needy. We work in partnership with local chefs, restaurants, farmers, and DNREC’s Sportsmen Against Hunger to provide hundreds of COVID-safe meals for the homeless. We have also helped start four vegetable gardens dedicated to helping feed those in need. We thank 100 Women Who Care Southern Delaware for their generosity and commitment to our vision.”

Jeri Berc said, “100 Women Who Care Southern Delaware is a newly formed group of women who care deeply about our local community. The Founders Circle, which numbers over 70 women, is making waves in Southern Delaware. Women who join 100 Women Who Care Southern Delaware for the second giving round will be a part of the first wave. Each member or team commits to donating $100 to the local nonprofit we select at our quarterly meetings. Local businesses are encouraged to partner with us by matching the funds we raise. We are grateful to SoDel Concepts, Signarama and Irish Eyes for the donations they are making.”

The Founders Circle is the first Delaware giving circle in the International 100 Who Care Alliance. For more information, go to the 100 Women Who Care Southern Delaware Facebook page or 100whocarealliance.org, email 100womencaresd@gmail.com or call Jeri Berc at 302-233-6897.
