The guest speaker at the Thursday, Oct. 18 meeting of the RD 20 Democratic Committee will be W. Kurt Foreman, president and CEO of Delaware Prosperity Partnership. Foreman will discuss the DDP’s plans to attract, grow and retain businesses in Delaware with a specific emphasis on economic development in the Lewes to Georgetown areas.
The meeting will be at Fish On Restaurant, 17300 Village Main Blvd., Lewes, with committee members and guests gathering at 5:30 p.m. for refreshments and dinner (optional) followed at 6 p.m. by Foreman’s presentation. Foreman previously led the economic development team at the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and also served as CEO of the North Louisiana Economic Partnership. Additionally, he has been in economic development positions in Pittsburgh, Pa., and the Washington, D.C. areas.
The DDP is Delaware’s first public-private economic development organization. It serves as the main advocate for Delaware’s business nationally and a facilitator of economic development within the state. Foreman was appointed president and CEO of the DDP in the spring of 2018 by Gov. John Carney, who also serves as co-chair of the partnership.
Following Foreman’s presentation, the RD 20 Democratic Committee will conduct its monthly business meeting. Democrats David Baker, Delaware state Senate 6th District candidate, and John Bucchioni, State Representative District 20 candidate, will discuss their respective platforms.
