Allen Harim celebrates opening of new headquarters

August 15, 2018

Allen Harim cut the ribbon on its new corporate headquarters in Millsboro Aug. 2.

The new 18,000 square foot facility is in the former Vlasic pickle plant. Allen Harim purchased the building in 2014, and three years later decided to relocate the corporate headquarters from Seaford to Millsboro. The move comes as Allen Harim is set to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2019.

Besides the corporate headquarters, the facility houses a warehouse, storing boxes and packing materials, and a deboning operation for chickens processed at the company’s Harbeson plant.

The company invested in Delaware through expansions of its feed mill, processing plant and broke ground last year on a new $22 million hatchery, President and CEO Joe Moran said.

“This new corporate headquarters is just part of our investment here at out facility in Millsboro, with more to come. We are well positioned, looking forward to our next 100 years on Delmarva,” he said.

The headquarters employs about 50 people, and Moran said the deboning operation will create 165 jobs. He said Allen Harim invested $11 million in renovating the Millsboro facility, with construction by Delmarva Veteran Builders.

Gov. John Carney said agriculture is the foundation of lower Delaware’s economy. The Allen name has been a way of life in Sussex County, he said. He also applauded Allen Harim’s investments in the state.

“It is incredibly important to keep this industry strong,” Carney said.
